Happy Teachers' Day

Teachers, I believe, are the most responsible and important members of society because their professional efforts affect the fate of the earth

For the ladies and gentlemen who moulded me to what I am today, I wanted to say thank you for being the divine power for you drive me to the destiny of my choice. I want to thank all teachers of Bhutan whose hard works are visible in the form of every individual standing in their own feet with different tag in their profession.
For the first time I was born to a caring mother and father. They nurtured me till I was only five. They taught me to walk. My father taught me to think of my life in school away from him. And my mother taught me to be strict to what I should be doing with annoyance face. I got to spent only few years with my parents.

The moment I was admitted in the school, I was with the second parent, teachers. All most everything, from the very basics to learning soft skills to be the good driver of our own life, and important of all the academic learning which is demanded for to get employ, were taught and nurtured by teachers.

I once more want to thank all the teachers that let me know what I can be and how should I go about to be. I can’t forget the moment of my success in exams that you taught me logically to take up the matter and learn ultimately the little lessons that my brains interpret sensibly in life.

And I pay tribute to the valuable contribution that you have made in the society by imparting the knowledge, enlightening, shaping the career of student and above all enriching the education system. I can feel and see the maturity of education system in the country which is the direct credit for the hard work that you have put in.

The Zorig (Engineer's) Day

Shall it be the Engineer’s day or carpenters/craftsman’s day? The moment I thought about the day it creates confusion and the moment I write, it contradicts with idea of my friends. Traditionally and still now in Dzongkha Zow mean a carpenter or someone who works with wood and stones to build houses. Many might argue if an engineer is tagged carpenter and vice versa. Still if you add rig Gopen it don’t suffice it to entitle for the engineers few argues. Anyways let me leave this for the debate that if you may likely to have for the correct term for an engineer in Dzongkha.

In 2001, College of Science and Technology was upgraded to only engineering degree offering college in the country with the name RBIT (Royal Bhutan Institute of Technology). Only two traditional engineering courses were offered viz civil and electrical engineering. It has galloped over time with loads of success in terms of employment of the graduates and developing itself to offer two more new courses. They are Bachelors in Information Technology and Electronics and Communication engineering.

College conducts various short-term trainings, workshops and courses for in-service civil servant, in particular to the technical professionals for which the Royal Civil Service Commission has duly indentified the college. Soon bachelor in architecture and masters in hydropower will be launched.
Graduates before 2010 might not have the clear picture of current CST. The giant trees around football field and around academic blocks were all cleared and now filled up with concrete jungle to host intellect faculties, self catering students, gym to punch the bag tirelessly, and staffs residences and kitchen. The name DON Bosco has cropped in removing Bosco to be real DON. Campus is filled up with new infrastructures and the laboratories still holds with its burly base.

Every year Zorig Day, Engineers day is celebrated on 25th April. CST being an engineering college commemorates the day with college Rimdro (rituals) and religious discourse.

From long time back thirteen traditional arts and crafts were practiced in the country. It was formally categorized during the reign of Gyalse Tenzin Rabgay. The thirteen arts and crafts are categorized as, Shing zo (wood work), Do zo (stone work), Par zo (carving), Lha zo (painting), Jim zo (clay work), Lug zo (casting), Shag zo (wood turning), Gar zo (blacksmithing), Troe zo (ornaments making), Tsha zo (weaving bamboo product), De zo (Paper-making), Tshem zo (tailoring), and Thag zo (weaving).

Considering the history of human dwellings, the use of above mentioned arts and crafts were evident. Among all the use of timber predates. Magnificient Dzongs, Lhakhangs and stupas wer build simply using timber and stones without any metal fasteners. They were joined together using nails of wood and notches with thick legs. And these wooden structures were designed to last for centuries as you can see still. Slowly, not only in Bhutan, in many countries, woodwork (Zow) became profession and craftsmen became the engineers, architects, carpenters and builders. By the end of nineteenth century, this craft began to disappear and subsided under the mechanization of works began when many industries appeared. And thus the separate engineers for diverse field emerged like the thirteen traditional arts and crafts.

???
Bhutanese still practice the art termed Shingzo. These days though the overall outlook of the structures are designed by architects, the main master behind the overall fashioning of intricate designs of the fortresses, palaces, temples and monasteries and traditional Bhutanese farm house are master craftsmen locally known as Zow chen and Zows and  the design of strength of the members are done by civil engineers.

Their (Zows) skills and design work can still be witnessed today in the ancient fortresses which are well appreciated by the native Bhutanese populace and visitors from outside.

The education system in Bhutan is matured. It was signified on 25th December 2005, when 23 graduates (13 civil and 10 electrical) of 2006 and 18 graduates (9 civil and 9 electrical) of 2005 proudly received their certificates from Dasho Zangley Dukpa, the then vice chancellor of Royal University of Bhutan. They were first engineers from the native land.

In other countries, they observed the day to pay tribute to the legendary engineer or scientist whose works and genius pave the way to modern times and engineering works and also to honor engineers. In India 15th September, is celebrated as Engineer's Day every year to commemorate the birthday of the legendary engineer, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

For Bhutan and in particular to the engineering colleges of the country, it is better if the day is mark with the convocation ceremony for the engineering graduates and the students of Traditional arts and crafts Institute. It is the best day for to honor if any who tremendously contributed for shaping the country in engineering field and those zows whose work is inevitable for construction and renovation of Dzongs, Lhakhangs and stupa which has vital historical background.

So, since the day I have been admitted in the college, the lecturers, relatives, and friends keep telling the importance of engineering, that you have made a great career selection, you people are going to modernize the world and I would always grin and scratch my head and think yes one day I would become worth something, till then I am better off in being a useless fellow. But there was one thing that I would wonder which was what the world would have been like if there were no engineers.

Happy Zorig Day!!

The Young Heart

“Mesmerized by the beauty of someone, it awakens poignant thought of her refusal”

“Mesmerized by the beauty of someone, it awakens poignant thought of her refusal”, it was my facebook status yesterday. Ashamed I am for writing such about so called love because I am old enough to think about love but the love is everywhere. And believe me love will teach you to be everything, reach you everywhere and hit you with no mercy.

One day she came wafting aside me. The rhythm was so cool that I got completely dissolved in the thought of accompanying with her. I feel it was love at first sight. The sight of her beauty – light brown hair, exquisite eyes that seems likely to call someone, rosy cheek, and a beautiful flowery mouth that seems to shower the blossom of beautiful and aspiring words. It is her and her name is impressive that I derived and called her Rose.

Lucky I am that I can see her daily walking to and fro for her classes. Doomed I am, I can’t talk to her and ask her something that would suffice opportunity of talking to her. Days and nights passed by staring behind and unknowingly from the window of my room, everything became my usual activity to embrace her beauty.

With much diffidence and denial, my mine over react to propose her, my intellect only perceive of her refusal. But the power and the enervated confident of my heart keeps no distance much to write few feelings to her on facebook. Her reply and the zeal to chat with me make me grin whenever I read her message. Moment I see the red sign of her message, my face beam to shine with loads of love that I carry to pour on her. Slowly at the snail’s pace I pour my heavy feelings.
Derived name equivalent to Rose!
Deep rooted from the beneath of my heart I do have the feelings that is pouring mix with your name and beautiful Rosali. Burly base hold me tight that sometimes I awake myself in the poignant of her charming and lively face like the fresh morning dew on beautiful rose.

She was quit amuse for when I told my feelings. Her smile and her little denial of her no interest to anyone makes me less polluted in the aroma of her beauty. Yes, she is least interested to anyone. May be there is no handsome that can bury her beauty to blend with. And I am least bothered to see my good looking rather I am the dear follower of what my heart command to do and act. Or maybe my feelings were too heavy.

I won’t give up embracing her beauty that I never did encounter in my life. It shall teach me the lesson to learn more about life that will drive to love more irrespective of who you are and how old you are. And too I’ll not forget and follow her silently from my window though it is weird. I will see her beautiful angelic figure dancing to and fro for her daily classes.

The Punch

The effect won’t be like the gust of wind instead gusting to its maximum power will bring down like the effect of tsunami.

Probably it weighs equivalent to 5 kilogram when it will hit on you. Be cautious for you don’t know when it would possibly play. The effect won’t be like the gust of wind instead gusting to its maximum power will bring down like the effect of tsunami.

What is the probability of a potted plant if you water it with bucket of water? Will not the water flood away the soil in the pot? Or will the pot itself topple down?

Everything was beautiful in its own way. Now everything is beautiful on someone’s wish and act. The serenity itself in you inspires and the severity of someone’s act deprives to inspire more. High on the hills and down on the bank I found the right place and play to dance with sweet fragrance of you. The way you wind is beautiful to quench the thirst of million depending on you. They bother the beauty of your old age, white colored snow hair, and make you young.

The season hasn’t changed. The natures haven’t changed. Now the Cruelty and the greed, the people have changed. Guru Rinpochhe’s prophesy shows its strictness. The beautiful decorated slopes are shaved to barren. Every now and then gigantic tree get topple down. The very surroundings get decorated with all sorts of unwanted wrappers. People forget and treat you for the chances. Never will they appreciate you when they are lively dwelling on you. It is now your definite misery.

But yesterday was little past that ever I expected. Today is present that I am dwelling on you. Tomorrow will be my future that I will behold and play on you. No tenses shall let me forget to consider you and take care.

When people realize your importance they will be too late. They will build retaining wall to protect the road. They will start reforestation that will be less successful. They’ll start the so called mitigation. They will use technologies to shun your punch yet the severe and heavier your punch will be and the misery will crop in. It will probably weigh equivalent to 5 kilogram when it will hit on them. Be cautious for you don’t know when it would probably play. The effect won’t be like the gust of wind instead gusting to its maximum power will bring down like the effect of tsunami.

~Elegy~

Fortunate was what I was once in my life,
Unfortunate is what I am facing now.
You are dominant to defend for your life
But you are deathliest to surrender my verve!

Oh! My owner, oh! My owner,
Your tomfoolery let me bother.
I chew what I got and was given,
Delicious food was your choice for me!

Vigorous was my strength to carry thy loads,
Helpless was my weakness to change my trend.
Your mediocrity and egotistical is what I owe,
Taking away my life for thy survival is what I bow.

Full of alternatives is thy life,
To grass till I die is what you nullify,
Oh! Owner, oh! Owner,
I bow for you to let me live.

Why world is unfair to us?
Why people like my flesh as their taste?
Why religion is subsided under human?
Reinstate religion with other secular ethic;
I pray!!!
