Reconduct exam for Leaked English paper II!

Bhutan Council for School Examination and Assessment (BCSEA) board has decided not to conduct re-exam for the leaked English paper II. It is very unfortunate for the students who haven’t got the leaked questions. The chosen decisions among many options the committee had, doesn’t hold any water. It is honestly unfair. 

The most awaiting moment – the decision from the board came as bombshell for the students. Almost everyone was expecting the board to re-conduct the exam. Either parent of the students and the students themselves. 

No other options could play fair in this case. There are maximum numbers of students who haven’t gotten any idea about the leaked paper and there are few pockets who proudly have written the paper. The only best option is to redo the exam. 

Why consider the marks in English I and abandon English II when former examines mostly the grammar and language and later the literature which expose students to poetry, drama, story etc.? Why should there be two separate papers then? How logical it is to compare two complete different things?

It is good reminiscence how I struggled to score good marks in English. For almost every student English II is rescue from hassle of English I. English II help students to get the good average marks. 

The reasons prioritized by the board are cost at the first place and then the logistics and hassle to students. Considering these reasons and decides not to redo exam don’t at all play fair to students and parents who work hard whole academic year. It is not the students illegally leaked the questions. It is the ethical questions to the integrity and liability of person who leaked the paper. 

I hope the decision shall be reverse first to redo exam and play fair to all students and then find the person behind for causing adversity and fix accountability at the earliest.

The more I write, the more I get to know about myself

Sorry Mr. Sangay Cholden’s Random Thoughts for I couldn’t update you these days. Exams make life a constant race for me. Not many days are left for me to screw up the gear so that we can ultimately judge how much I have learned to defeat the greatest enemy in students’ lives – examinations. 

Days ran so fast. Months galloped steadily. And finally a semester is coming to an end. Time is not waiting for anyone except me, and I feel that when I am damn bored inside my room all alone, books do not provide me with good company. A giant tree welcomed me with useless fruits, and it is time for me to bid farewell with the same fruit. 

Dear fellow bloggers, I can’t be able to read your post for awhile. I will miss the different perspective and inspiring writing of yours which motivate me to write more despite the fact that what I write is more often as blend as oatmeal. 

I am not completing my college this year. But I am supposed to.  I can’t do away do with blogging. I will be giving full time now to studies. May be for good reasons or so, many Bhutanese bloggers fade away the moment they begin working to earn. What if you write to earn? Money is not everything in life. Just know yourself and be a good human and act, and money will pour in. And yet you should know that you are not born only to earn and forget not that living without earning is difficult.

It doesn’t matter for me how my writings are. The more I write, the more I get to know about myself. And I promise I will write to learn and know about all that are to relate to me and myself in life. It gives me strength, and it is my ruling passion.

It's not the end of Road

No matter how sensitive and conflict-ridden the consequences, failure in exams don’t spell the end of the road in a student's life. Success is not destiny. Failure is not fatal.  Evaluation is an important part of an education system, and failing is a part of it.

Failures at times can bring about an attitudinal change in life. Many students try to change their ways after they experience failure. The guilt of letting the parents and teachers down brings about a major change in their personality.

Exams are benchmark for judging a student. It is true that failure is not the end of the world but teachers are the ones who have made the student believe in this. The student cannot escape this pressure because the entire education system is geared around exams.

When failure isn’t expected, students get severely tensed and devastated.

When we fall short, experience a setback, or things just don’t go our way, we have two choices: give – up or regroup. One of the biggest problems with failure is when we think it means something to our worth or our value. If we can frame failure differently instead see it as an opportunity to learn and grow, then it stops being a source of self – criticism and self-doubt, and becomes a tool for self- improvement. And we can do it.  

CST, College of Science and Technology is only college in the country that offers various engineering degree courses. When it produces maximum engineers for it is sure the quality isn’t compromise. For that matter failure is guaranteed. 

Examination Fever

It is said when the examinations are approaching, the students suffer from examination fever and rightly examinations are regarded as a curse by students. The approach of examinations means the beginning of fear in the mind of a student. Yab it is damn true yaar!!!

As a matter of fact, examinations are the only worry of students. They are the only unpleasant experience in an otherwise happy and carefree life. The worry of an examination interrupts the smooth course of a student's life. Games, musical concerts, debates and other extracurricular activities are all stopped busy in preparations for examinations. Students are not to be found at the play field, restaurants and other places of entertainment during the examination days.But lazy few are found active on facebook like me.

Examinations are held to test students' ability, to check up the work they have done during a term, to judge what progress they have made and to determine whether they have been utilizing or wasting their time. If there were no examinations, the merits of the various students could not be judged, nor would the majority of students take any interest as it is only the fear of examinations that makes students work.

Yet another big tension - RESULT... let me do my best and see who will be the winner. If you win I fail but if I win I am always winner mind it!! and this is the real great advantages of victory against examinations.
