Last day of 2014

The very last day of wonderful 2014 was special to remember and consider. After many years of struggle, finally, yet another goal accomplished and a new journey of life begins. The bygone years – roughly two decades were spent in schools and college. The very last day conferred me the designation of my profession – engineer.

Honorable Dasho Karma Tshiteem, chairperson of Royal Civil Service Commission handed over the appointment order. I am civil servant. I will be working with Department of Road under Ministry of Work and Human Settlement.

Every journey has a beginning. Every beginning beholds its vitality. Vitality must entail the jury of conformism. It is interesting blend of traditionalism and modernism to take oath to serve better with integrity and dedication, the king, country and people. This was the thought that lingered in my head as I repeated the lines of strong oath of allegiance during the oath taking ceremony.

Finally Hon'ble Dasho held a session on Leadership of the Self for an hour.

I wish all my fellow bloggers and friends a very Happy New Year 2015 and beyond.

Letter to my fellow Students

With much appreciation I write to you all. I appreciate for you are undergoing training for construction management to become site supervisor. Bhutan needs better skilled and educated manpower in construction sector. Not many of us like blue collar jobs neither we want to grab an opportunity and work. With the mission to get trained with better attitude of manual works and overcome the hardship, it is in you that I have seen the vision blooming to serve for the better cause of nation.

Not many days back I used to come wearing smile and hope for the day in your class. The joy that comes through dedication and integrity of my instruction and the aspiration to make you all learn whatever I taught makes our period every day. I hope the same shall be continued with the new instructor in my absence.

Not many of you like my style of conducting test after coverage of every new topic. I have done enough research before I make the decision. Many graduated trainees don’t know the basics of what you are supposing to know when you are at site. With the mission to enhance teaching and learning the field and practical oriented subjects, and with the vision to institute the competitive model to measure the performance of trainees I have decided to conduct test after coverage of every new topic. I am pleased that my idea was well received.

With student trainees
I am happy with the hard work you all have put in to understand the technical content of the teaching within short duration. Moreover it is proven in the examination. I convey my deep message to keep it up the spirit.

One day the class abounded with laughter. It was when I read the funny answer. When the question clearly says to enlist the characteristics of good timber, how someone can confidently write a point, it gives good smile! Such simple spelling mistakes were common. Instead of smile it should be smell - vast difference between smile and smell. It was indeed a good lesson and learning for me and you. Again it was nice to see many of you don’t make such silly blunders in future tests and reports.

I was completely shocked to hear the news. It was breaking news for all of us, undeniably for the institute and nation as a whole. It was I who reminded you all to control drinking. One day I remember I cautioned few of you to be careful after drinking liquor. It was misfortunate for him and disgrace for all of us. When the law intervenes, we are same in front of law and he will be charged for involuntary manslaughter. For rest of you, I warn you to be extra careful henceforth.

Unfortunately I have to leave as I have been selected for RCSC. It is with sadness that I leave a role where we have worked with such fantastic and supportive team and trainees. I have really enjoyed the teaching and challenges in the job.

For your information, I have selected to work with Ministry of Work and Human Settlement and placed under Department of Road. Tomorrow I will get appointment letter and probably I will be joining office by 10th January after orientation programme.

I’d like to extend a huge thanks to you, the rest of the management team and trainees for all you have done for me over the last one month.

Please feel free to get in touch should you require information henceforth.

I wish all the trainees best of luck in every endeavor you take ahead.  Hope to work with you all in future. Happy New Year and TASHI DELEK!!

Yours sincerely

Album Series III

It is when you look back; there will be beautiful things to ponder upon. I have an old album that was maintained long ago during my schooling days. When I open after many winding years, I find beautiful things adorn in it and short good stories born out of old photos. It is beautiful reminiscence indeed! This is my third series.

The Boyhood

My boyhood was an intellectual beginning. It was during the prime exist from primary education, I stood among academic positions. My dad was proud of me and it wasn’t fair though, since I have to walk a day to reach junior school. Finally it was worth walking and experiencing the boarding life for the first time at Martshala Junior High School, which was upgraded later to Middle Secondary School.

It was a school of complete freedom. To go out from the school and loiter around was a choice. The time was vulnerable. However, I had to attend morning and night study for at least two hours.

My times at Tashigang Middle Secondary School.

I shall thank for having met with good friends and brought up away from the modern world. Drugs and substance abuses were there. I have seen some of my friends indulging in it. I have seen couples dating. I have seen the drama of sexual relationship. But I was innocent that ruled me enough to stay away from those. More than anything, I feel proud myself for having put more time on studies, despite no one to guide.

I studied my Middle Secondary education at Tashigang Middle Secondary School. This time I was bit naughty. I was naughty enough to join friends to see the privacy of girls in their dormitory. We used to study till late midnight.  By the time we stop studying, girls would be snoring. Without much fear we sneak around the girls’ dormitory to see how they sleep. Sometimes the scene would be funny, sometimes sexy, some friends would say, and sometimes terrifying when matron chased us. Luckily we were never caught!

First from left - myself at Martshala

Life past was like science experiment. I have experienced marijuana, smoking and drinking. The results were that I was negative to drugs. I never like drugs though drinking has become sociable. More than anything, without forgetting my father’s wish to study well, I studied well and I was known by my teachers and friends as good and simple student.

Games in schools were part-time. I was never good at playing any games neither too bad. Given a chance to play and engaged in an opportunity, I never let my team down. Almost half of Saturday and few hours during week days were spent in co-curricular activities.

More Series coming soon....

Album Series II

It is when you look back; there will be beautiful things to ponder upon. I have an old album that was maintained long ago during my schooling days. When I open after many winding years with, I find beautiful things adorn in it and short good stories born out of old photos. It is beautiful reminiscence indeed! This is my second series.

The young

For every life, there are hoods that we go through. It is not happenstance rather it is river of life that we should pass through.  Initially from childhood, we are young and innocent. In the midway, manhood is the hood of joy and an educative experience. In fatherhood, we opt to see our offspring enjoy and come through those. And then grandfatherly we become an old child.

I don’t remember how I spent my childhood. I only remember beatings I got from my mom. It is pain to remember, but gain to see what I am today. My childhood was not actually bothersome hood to parent and friends.

Almost entire six years of my tender age was spent naked and bare. Pants and shirts during my time were not popular. I permanently wore the gho, with no care at all about underclothing. It was botherless who sees my little ball and penis. Walking was completely on bare foot, no matter what! Childhood was worth learning to feel how I was in dearth. I was dirty. Certainly!

That was long ago....

I have only picture of my boyhood that was snapped when I was seven. I guess it was during celebration of accomplishment of Tshampas on their seven months meditation.

I had to walk miles to reach school. I have to wake up early in the morning. I spent my primary schooling walking to school and back home. Basically my childhood life was worth living in dust that taught me uncountable lessons in life to mold myself to a fine man, though.

More series coming soon.....
